But did you know that you can learn something from this story? It can help you in business to better reach your goal and can also help to prevent burnout.

As a solopreneur, there is so much that you need to do, but since you are the boss of your own time, efforts, and income, it's easy for you to lean too much on one or the other side of the spectrum from day to day. Meaning on any given day, you can decide to do too much or too little, and with no one looking over you, it's easy to get sucked into one or the other.


The Goldilocks rule states that you must design your days so that your work is "not too hard, not too easy, but just right."

See if your days are too challenging. Whether it be doing too much, only tackling things that you despise doing, or solving difficult problems, it is easy to burn out.

But if your days are too easy, you only have a little to do, and you know the exact solutions to your problems, it's easy to get bored and lose motivation.


When you fill your days with less challenging things, you can experience the endorphins your body releases with small victories. Yet, challenges are essential to balance it and keep your work exciting.


You can make your days easier or harder by choosing the number of tasks you need to accomplish during said day, thus tapping into the quantitative side.

You can also adjust difficulty based on the degree of difficulty of a problem. When solving something requiring much effort, stick with fewer tasks and focus on creating the ideal outcome.


Do you need to adopt The Goldilocks Rule?


Now, it's up to you to reflect on how you run your business. 

Are you guilty of having extremely challenging days that lead to burnout and put you off work for days or weeks? Or are you constantly bored and looking for more things to do? Do you feel you need more motivation?

What You Can Learn From Goldilocks About Running Your Business

One of the fastest and most meaningful ways to start growing and scaling your business is by delegating. When you start delegating, you can serve more people.

In the beginning, wearing all the hats can be empowering. But Being the content creator, strategist, photographer, videographer, editor, copywriter, accountant, and the master salesperson can be a one-way ticket to burnout.
It is simply unsustainable.

It's hard to know when it is the right time to start delegating tasks because every business journey is different.

If you want to grow your business, you need help. The help you hire is aimed at scaling your business and impacting many more lives. It will also help you to shift from that employee mindset to that of an owner.

But if you think you are starting to need some help. It may be your time.

Before you go out and start hiring, make sure you do it right so you don't waste time or money.

Step 1: Determine all Monthly Non-Negotiable Tasks

Take a step back and review all the tasks you do every month. List them out. Make sure to be as detailed and inclusive as you can.

For example: Look at marketing; how many times do you post on social media for the month? How many videos do you have to take, edit, and post? How often do you need to create copy for your social media posts, blogs, or videos?

How much time do you spend setting up and monitoring paid ads?

Do this for every area of your business, ie, marketing, sales, accounting, production, and more. After you complete this, you will be aware of everything you are doing.

Now that you are more aware of all your monthly tasks, have an honest conversation with yourself.

Which tasks are you good at? Which ones do you despise? Which would you flick a magic wand and get it done immediately? Which do you struggle to get done?

This helps you to understand where you need support and identify what reigns you can let go of.

The cool thing about this is that it opens up the possibility of meeting people who enjoy doing the tasks you hate. You can use their skills to turn your weaknesses into strengths for your business.

Clear communication is the most important aspect of outsourcing. It helps you to grow a team that aligns with your vision.

Your job as a leader is to clarify and double-clarify what you need. Be specific and leave no room for assumptions. Remember that others cannot read your mind. You must provide clear instructions about what you expect from them.

One way you could support a new member of your team is by providing them with a work profile.

Quite Quitting- A never ending cycle in a finite game

Today there is a movement going around known as 'quite quitting.' It came about after the whole world suffered from the covid pandemic.


It's the act of employees becoming more and more disengaged from the companies they work for. They realized that they are nothing more than a means to an end for the company. So, they start doing the bare minimum and nothing more.


Giving extra to a company no longer drives them. The pandemic was eye opening.


The problem with this is that these companies no longer have loyal employees.
It's possible that it's good for the economy. These are the people who may go out and start businesses of their own.


The problem with this is that they fall into the same playing field as the companies they quit from.


When they become successful, they start undervaluing their employees. They start to get some success and then the cycle starts up all over again.



Most businesses, CEO's and leaders run their business with a finite mindset. They see business as something with an end.


Like most games that you play today, they have the mentality that they can either win or loose. In the end, nobody wants to loose.


So they pull out everything that they got to try and reach their financial targets. They work their asses off to be number one.


They push employees to engage in activities they wouldn't want to do themselves. All in the name of hitting goals.


This is what Simon Sinek, the Author of "The Infinite Game," noticed. After working with countless organizations, he realized that something needed to change.


Sinek proposed the idea of "The Infinite Game." Which is where the ideas of this post came from.


He realized that business is not something that you can win or loose.


So instead, you should address business as a never ending game.


He believes that if you play the never ending game, you can see some distinct benefits. By focusing on staying in the game rather than winning you start to develop trust, loyalty and more wins.


In the long run, it's all around beneficial for both business and employees. 

Playing with an infinite mindset, encourages positive behaviors. These behaviors contribute to the growth and survival of the business.
So how is it played?



The way you do this is by caring about the people who contribute to your company. You focus on building trust within the company.


You display and encourage positive behaviors of growth and trust.

You focus on developing your employees and ensure that they are always improving. This should be more important than hitting a magic number.

You provide trainings to those in position of leadership. Trainings should focus on how to manage the people, so they can learn how to guide and empower others.

You work together with your employees to develop strategies for your business.

You can have finite goals within the infinite game. Yet, these goals should not be the most important thing.


See, if you run a business like this, it builds up trust and cooperations. Employees feel empowered. They go above and beyond, because they feel valued.


In the end, it is their hard work that will make sure your business goes to the next level. It's their hard work that will make sure you stay in the game.



The thing that we need to understand is that in business, like everything else in life, there are cycles. We should make our employees feel trusted, and valued when business is good. Then, they will work hard for the business when things are hard.


Stop being a business that looks at things from a financial gain perspective, with an end goal in mind. Instead, adapt the infinite game mentality.


The idea that Business is a game that never ends. Remember that the goal is to stay in the business for as long as possible.


Teach yourselves and the leaders you put in place how to empower your employees.


Give them meaningful work. And listen to their ideas. Give them a place to share their ideas and voice their opinions.


Remember that it is these same employees that will work with you.
They will not think twice about going above and beyond for you. But you have to do it for them first.


You have to show them that you value them. You need to lead with them in mind.

Why Playing the Infinite Game Will Make You More Successful

Hey aspiring entrepreneurs, business people and everybody else trying to build their network. Do you enjoy all that goes into networking?

All my life, I have considered myself an introvert. I have worked very hard to step out of my comfort zone, and be better at it. Sad to say, I still kinda suck. Yet, as a business owner, I know of the importance that it plays.

It’s a great way to meet mentors, and other like minded business owners who don’t have time otherwise to get out and socialize, because of the grind that we all know goes into building a business.

The uncomfortableness and idea of having to step out of my house makes this one of the hardest goals to stick to every year. Then there is also the fact that I’m living in Taiwan, and really just want to connect with entrepreneurs in Belize.

So I have an idea, and hear me out before you stop reading.

What if we have an online event, created like speed dating to be able to meet other entrepreneurs across the Country? No selling, no alternate ideas, no flirting, just plain out networking? Wouldn’t that be fun?

What if we could be in the comfort of our own homes?

Come online, use the tips I’m about to give you and just socialize and interact with other Belizean trying to connect with people that have similar or different visions than ours. Wouldn’t that be great?

It would give us an opportunity to meet other people with similar goals and aspirations. It could also help us to develop a new sense of community. Share ideas and grow together.

All with the purpose of giving you and myself an opportunity to use the following tips and tricks to become better at it too.

In order to get the most out of networking, you need to have a clear understanding of what it is that you are looking for.

Are you trying to connect with other entrepreneurs? Are you trying to find a mentor or mentee? Are you trying to connect with people who might buy your products or have connections with those who might buy it?

Having clear answers to these questions can help you to choose specific events that you would like to attend, and better choose events where you could meet the type of people you would like to form connections with.

Starting with a goal in mind, will keep you from just going with the flow.

One of the hardest parts of networking is breaking the ice, especially for people who aren’t naturally extroverted.

By wearing something that helps you to stand out, it makes it easier for others to approach you. It lightens the mood and gives you something fun and daring to break the ice.

If your clothing catches people’s attention, make eye contact with them, then say something about your clothing to start the conversation. It’s that easy, and you could be surprised about where the story of a green hat could end up.

If networking is not something that comes naturally to you, then spending some time rehearsing your introductions, or some common ideas that may come up will be very useful.

Have a clear idea of what it is you would like to communicate to others about yourself, your goals, your business or even your hobbies.

If you are sharing ideas about your success or business, try to find more natural ways to share them, instead of going for an outstanding elevator pitch that might come off as bragging to other people.

Then, clarify your ideas about specific topics so that when they come up, you don’t find yourself wandering around in circles.

Aim for Meaningful Connections That Leave Room for Curiosity

Networking events are usually set up to be done in short transactional interactions. People know this, and don’t seem to mind it.

Yet, whenever you meet connections that could lead to developing strong mutually beneficial relationships, make it meaningful while leaving room for curiosity.

This means, don’t spend all your time talking to them, but instead make your way around the room and be sure to check back with them before the end of the event. Share contact information and restate something that you found interesting about your conversation with them.

Then actually follow up with them after the event.

This is the most important part, if you want to make real connections, give the people you meet your undivided attention. Listen, and be interested in what they are talking about.

Ask questions if you are really curious and make the people see that you actually care. This is one of the best techniques to build connections, yet, we overlook it because it can sometimes feel like we aren’t getting the time to share.

Tips to Get Over the Pain of Networking

You eva watch somebody do something and think, man he da wa eeediat? I’m sure that it has crossed your mind for many different reasons. Were you wrong? Were they wrong?

If you were to take a step back and observe human behavior, at some point, you would probably be left feeling confused.

Why do people do things the way that they do? Aren’t they aware that there is an easier way to do it? Why do they react so quickly without taking time to consider all aspects of things?

Thomas Erikson’s book, “Surrounded by Idiots” was a game changer for me. It made it easier for me to reflect on my actions and understand the way that I am. It also guided me as I began to observe the behaviors of others.

I remember hitting that 'ah huh' moment when it was so clear why others would do things differently.

While I was reading, I could identify thoughts, and patterns that seem to fit with the way I think and act. I also saw pictures of those around me pop up in my head as I learned about the different types of behaviors associated with people in different groups.

He also points out that it's important to remember that most people are made up of a combination of two colors, although one color will always be more dominant.

According to Erikson, people’s behavior falls within 4 aspects that can be seen in the table below. They are assigned a color based on where their behavior falls.

Blue people are believed to be slow to react, cautious and organized. They focus a lot on the past to determine future actions. 

Their actions are based more on being organized and objective, and less on forming relationships. Can you think of a blue person?

Reds are the opposite of blues in terms of reaction. They like to do things quickly and analyze later. 

They enjoy having control of things, and throw caution out of the window in relationships. They are direct, and focus on NOW. Can you see yourself being red?

Greens are calm and level headed individuals. They love making connections, and don’t have a high tolerance for change.

 Greens focus on NOW, in a way that is very supportive of others. This also means that they do their best to avoid conflicts.

Yellows are similar to reds in terms of reactions, they are impulsive and not very analytical. People who are considered yellow are more focused on the future. 

They don’t like routines and love to be very involved. They love being surrounded by others and fear not having people to talk to.

You may often think that your way of doing things is the right way. At least that’s how I felt, and still sometimes feel. 

Yet, after learning about the four types of human behavior, it has been easier to remind myself that I am not actually surrounded by idiots.

Understanding the four behavior types makes it a lot easier for us to put ourselves in other people’s shoes. It makes it easier to understand how we are different, and why we act and think differently.

It can help us to be more open and accepting of other people’s thoughts and actions.

Take a look at the table above, and try to identify where the people that are important to you fall based on their behaviors. Then think about the traits that are innate to them, and how they are different from you. Make an effort to understand how you are different. This is key to managing those relationships. Focus on understanding and accepting how different you are.

I promise, it changes our approach and ability to accept the things that people do.

In school, we learn about the different leadership styles. We do in depth analysis of which style is the best. We decide which type of leader we prefer to be.


But what do we take away from it? What can we apply after we leave? How does learning about this help us to be better leaders outside of school?



I can remember going back to my first management job, and reflecting on all that I had learned in school. Trying to choose a specific style to ensure that I was the right leader.
But it didn’t seem to work. I couldn’t maintain one specific style.
As I got more experience in leadership, I realized that my style was always changing. No one style seemed to dominate.
I started managing people from many countries, working for a company in Taiwan. I remember reading something a few months before. I had to go back and look at it.


Dah Mi Di Hersey-Blanchard Model of Situational Leadership.
It describes 4 different leadership styles used to help you lead your employees. It's leadership in a way that will prepare them for leadership later on. Thinking about it, I’m sure that this could also apply when teaching your kids new things. It can help them to become more independent.



Select an employee or a child, and decide in which of the 4 stages they are currently in. Then, make a list of things you can do to lead them up to the next level. Apply.

 Commitment is high, but experience and expertise is low. During this stage, you should provide instructions that guide them to complete a task. This can help them improve and feel accomplished.

 The guidance they received during the first stage, prepares them to seek solutions themselves. It provides them with guided questions. Yet, due to the stress of starting a new job or activity, their motivation has fallen.

 This is a critical stage, and it is the defining point. Either they are more motivated because of how far they have come, or decide that it is not for them.

 They are in full control. The ones that stay are motivated. They now have their own projects and make their own decisions.
