Strategic Thinking Vs. Rolling the Dice

When people become successful, we often call them lucky. And it is true, they are lucky, but luck results from hard work and planning.

Luck favors Strategic people who work hard and know what they want over laid-back people who roll the dice, letting life dictate where they are going.

Being Strategic

Strategy is planning where you want to go and what you will do to get there.
Taking time to plan and create a strategy gives you a better understanding of the steps you need to take. It also helps to gain clarity over your thoughts and ideas.

When you have a plan to follow, it's much easier to identify what isn't working and respond by changing it.

Rolling the Dice

When you don't know where you want to go, you sit back and let those around you, your friends, bosses, co-workers, and even the government, decide the direction of your life or business.

Meaning you live reacting to the decisions other people make.

You are only willing to take advantage of opportunities when those opportunities become popular and don't bother to look a little further to take advantage of new opportunities.

Because of this, it means you often find yourself entering and exiting these opportunities when it's too late.

Where Luck Meets Strategy

When you are busy planning and working towards your goals, opportunities present themselves. They are usually only within the grasp of people who have done the work to be in a position to take advantage of them.

So, as you progress toward your goal, make sure you are being strategic in what you do so that when growth opportunities present themselves, you will be ready and able to take advantage of them.

Remember that success usually happens when preparation meets opportunity, so be prepared for when it comes.
